MOWA Chahta Aiikhvna
Welcome to the MOWA Choctaw Cultural Center
Our rich history and identity come alive. We invite you, your family, and even your classrooms to explore our story. Hear how our ancestors remained strong, resisting the "Indian Removal Act" and the "Trail of Tears," overcoming immense hardship. They survived, and we are still here today.
As you tour the center, you'll discover rooms dedicated to our culture, history, daily life, and the modern MOWA Choctaw tribe. These exhibits showcase artifacts from the Choctaw and other tribes of Mobile and Washington counties, telling the story of resilience and community. Our people, descended from Choctaw, Creek, Cherokee, and Apache, chose the name "MOWA Choctaw" to honor our roots in both Mobile and Washington Counties.
