Human Resources and Grants

Homeowner’s Assistance

The Homeowner’s Assistance Fund program (HAF) offers assistance to income-qualifying homeowners to assist with mortgage/utility payments caused by loss of income and/or expenses due to COVID-19 that have negatively impacted a household’s ability to make their mortgage/utility payments

Energy Assistance

LIHEAP helps low-income families meet the costs of home energy, defined as heating and cooling of residences, and to increase their energy self-sufficiency and reduce their vulnerability resulting from energy needs.

United Way Grants and Programs

Everyone deserves the chance to live a good life. The United Way of Southwest Alabama’s internal programs provide support and resources in the key areas of health, education, financial stability and access to services. It’s a comprehensive approach that helps us make a bigger impact on our neighbors’ lives.

Housing

The MOWA Choctaw Housing Authority also strives to provide supportive services and resources to residents and community members to better enable their individual and group ventures toward self-sufficiency, health, stability and improved lifestyles

Food Insecurity

We offer seasonal and temporary food assistance at various times through ‘Feeding the Gulf Coast’.

Community Services Grant

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is a federal program that provides funds to states, territories, and tribes to support services that address poverty in under-resourced communities. Over 1,000 local agencies use CSBG funds for housing, nutrition, utility, and transportation assistance, as well as employment, education, crisis support, and community-building efforts. Annually, over 9 million people benefit from these programs.

Equitable Neighborhoods Initiative

The Equitable Neighborhoods Initiative equips communities to address the pandemic-related issues of today while building capacity to deal with the health and quality of life challenges of tomorrow. ENI connects neighborhoods to resources to improve health equity and the development of each community.
